Roles in Market

Every person using Market has a role in their webstore, and each role has a different level of permissions. Market roles are divided into two categories: administrative and non-administrative. Keep reading to learn more.

Administrative roles

The people responsible for managing a Market webstore will be in administrative roles. These administrative roles include owners and admins.

  • People in an owner role might be founders and executives, members of senior leadership, department heads, or someone from the IT department who provisions licenses or handles account administration.

  • People in an admin role might be managers, senior administrative staff, project managers, or IT administrators.

Owner and admin roles by plan

  • Social Cart
    • Webstore Owner
      Every webstore has a single Owner. Only this person can delete the webstore or transfer primary ownership to someone else.
    • Webstore Admins
      There can be multiple Webstore Admins in a webstore. Webstore Admins have the same level of permissions as the Owner, except they can’t delete or transfer ownership of a webstore.
  • Market Standard
    • Webstore Owner
      Every webstore has a single Owner. Only this person can delete the webstore or transfer primary ownership to someone else.
    • Webstore Admins
      There can be multiple Webstore Admins in a webstore. Webstore Admins have the same level of permissions as the Owner, except they can’t delete or transfer ownership of a webstore.
  • Market Plus
    • Webstore Owner
      Every webstore has a single Owner. Only this person can delete the webstore or transfer primary ownership to someone else.
    • Webstore Admins
      There can be multiple Webstore Admins in a webstore. Webstore Admins have the same level of permissions as the Owner, except they can’t delete or transfer ownership of a webstore.

Non-administrative roles

Non-administrative roles in Market include staffers and guests. People in these roles can work in webstores and access key features of Market, but cannot adjust administrative settings.

  • Staff
    Staffers have access to use features in a Market webstore, except for those that are limited to only owners and admins.

  • Guests
    Guest accounts are available only on the Market Plus plan. Guests have limited access to a Market webstore. Guests can use many of the same features that members can in the channels they have access to.

  • Invited staffers
    Invited staffers have been invited to join a webstore, but haven’t yet accepted their invitation. Other staffers can add them. Invited staffers will not receive email notifications about the webstore activity.
